Kenya National Spelling Bee Championship at Westgate Shopping Mall

The 24th July Spelling Bee Championship was a grand event that brought together Spellers from 5 Counties, tasked to pit their Spelling skills against each other for a shot at the top Prize.

Grade 4, 5, 6, 7, and 8 Learners from Nairobi, Kiambu, Kajiado, Machakos, and Murang’a Counties put their best foot forward in front of a live audience to Spell different words given to them by our able panel of 3 Judges. The event was attended by representatives from Veda (Sai Offi ce), Educate Yourself, Westgate Shopping Mall, Akili Kids! TV, Blueband, Noodies, Gertrudes Children Hospital, various learning institutions, parents, and teachers, among other invited guests came to witness and support the Pupils.

All the Spellers were treated to; an origami paper craft session & colouring courtesy of Veda, spinning the wheel to win a prize, puppet shows & dances courtesy of Akili Kids! TV, interviews for our Spelling Bee TV Show, among other activities to help them relax and be at ease before the competition kicked off. The Championship was a cut-throat competition with every Speller bringing their ‘A’ game in front of an audience of 200 guests. The competition was aired as a 4-episode series on Akili Kids! TV. All the 94 participants received a certificate, a gift hamper filled with goodies from Westgate Shopping Mall, Veda, Akili Network, Ribena, and KNSB. The top 3 Winners of the 24th July Spelling Bee Championship at Westgate Shopping Mall were awarded:

  • Veda stationery, KNSB merchandise, Blueband, Noodies & Ribena products, KES 2,500 shopping voucher from Educate Yourself, and KES 5,000 Shopping Voucher from Westgate Shopping Mall for the 2nd Runner Up.
  • Veda stationery, KNSB merchandise, Blueband, Noodies & Ribena products, KES 5,000 shopping voucher from Educate Yourself, and KES 5,000 Shopping Voucher from Westgate Shopping Mall for the 1st Runner Up.

Veda stationery, KNSB merchandise, Blueband, Noodies & Ribena products, KES 7,500 shopping voucher from Educate Yourself, and a brand-new tablet for the Champion.
