ASL Packaging Wins 2008 Energy Management Award

The 2008 EMA awards saw ASL Packaging Division, a new entrant and first time participant, walk away with an award in the contested Best New Entrant (Medium Enterprise) category.

The prestigious award ceremony, hosted by Mr.Vimal Shah, the Kenya Association of Manufacturers (KAM) chairman, proved to be a fine day out for ASL Packaging, who were recognized for their consistent and collective focus in pursuit of environment-friendly energy practices. The Chief Guest at the occasion was the Minister for Trade, Hon Amos.G. Kimunya, with the Ministry of Energy, under the Hon. Kiraitu Murungi, actively participating in its role as a sponsor.

In appreciation of the award, ASL – Packaging Division's representatives acknowledged their team's long term effort; working over a period of 12 years to optimize energy management, something that was duly recognized by the CEEC (Centre for Energy Efficiency and Conservation) Energy Auditors who assessed the ASL plant and facilities.

Other honours given at the ceremony were the Overall Energy Management award, the Best Energy Management Team award, the Fuel Savings award, the Service Sector award and the Energy Innovation award.

In a world increasingly affected by climate change and its associated impacts on economies and businesses, the CEEC energy award is a fitting way to recognize those like ASL who commit time, effort and resources towards efficiency and conservation.
